 워싱턴한국문화원은 12월 11일(수) 오후 7시 30분 워싱턴 DC 소재 앤더슨 하우스(Anderson House / Society of Cincinnati)에서 2019년 문화원 송년 음악회를 개최합니다. 문화원은 연말을 맞이해 최고의 기량을 가진 신인 클래식 연주자들을 워싱턴 DC 주요 공연예술 관계자들에게 소개하고자 이번 송년 음악회를 기획하였습니다.

   이번 음악회는 현지 주요 예술기관인 엠바시 시리즈(The Embassy Series)와 공동 주최로 진행되는 행사이며 미국의 독립을 기념하고자 설립된 단체인 신시내티 소사이어티의 역사적인 박물관 앤더슨 하우스에서 행사를 개최합니다. 엠바시 시리즈는 1994에 설립된 문화예술 비영리 기관으로 각 나라의 대사관과 교류하며 유망한 클래식 연주자를 발굴해 현지에 소개하는 문화교류 사업을 수행하고 있는 기관입니다.

   초청된 연주자는 국내외에서 왕성하게 활동하고 있는 바이올리니스트 이유진(23세), 첼리스트 김민지(25세), 피아니스트 김도현(24세)의 트리오로 구성되었으며, 리스트의 <메피스토 왈츠>, 데뷔시의 <아름다운 저녁>, 바흐의 <무반주 첼로 모음곡>, 쇼팽의 <뱃노래>, 라흐마니노프의 <피아노 트리오>, 베토벤의 <피아노 트리오> 등을 연주할 예정입니다.  

   차세대 음악재원으로 꾸준한 공연 활동을 하고 있는 바이올린 연주자 이유진은 서울예원중학교를 졸업 후 미국으로 건너가 콜번스쿨을 졸업했으며, 현재 커티스 음악원(아이다 카파피안 사사)에 재학 중입니다. 스툴버그 국제 현악 콩쿠르 1위(2013), 클라인 국제 음악콩쿠르 1위(2013), 서울 국제 음악 콩쿠르 2위(2018), 워싱턴 국제 현악 콩쿠르에서 1위(2018)를 수상한 바 있습니다. 

  첼리스트 김민지는 2004년 금호영재콘서트 연주회로 데뷔했으며, 예원학교와 서울예고를 거쳐 한국예술영재교육원(정명화 교수 사사)을 졸업한 음악재원입니다. 서울대학교 음악대학 재학 중 스위스로 건너가 스위스 바젤 음악대학(학사) 및 스페인 레이나소피아 음악원(연주자 과정)을 마치고, 현재 독일 바이마르 국립음대에서 석사 과정에 재학 중입니다. 가스파르 카사도 국제 첼로 콩쿠르 2위(2013), 베네데토 마차쿠라티 콩쿠르 2위(2016), 제6회 파울로 국제 첼로 콩쿠르에서 공동 2위(2018)를 수상한 경력을 가지고 있습니다.

  피아니스트 김도현은 서울예고를 졸업 후 서울대학교 음악대학을 재학 중 미국으로 건너가 줄리아드 음악 대학원을 졸업하였으며, 현재 클리블랜드 음악원(백혜선, 세르게이 바바얀 사사) 연주자 과정에 재학 중입니다. 스위스 방돔 프라이즈 콩쿠르에서 1위없는 공동 2위 수상(2017), 모스크바 국제 차이코프스키 대회 최우수 공연 특별상(2019)을 수상하였습니다. 

  공연은 약 60분간 진행될 예정이며 콘서트 후에는 예술가들과 만날 수 있는 리셉션 행사가 열립니다. 리셉션에는 다채로운 한식 음식이 준비될 예정입니다. 행사 티켓은 1인당 60불이며, 티켓 예매는 엠바시 시리즈 웹사이트(www.embassyseries.org) 에서 구매가 가능합니다. 문화원의 이번 송년음악회에 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다. 
About the Artists
Violinist Youjin Lee is making a name for herself as an artist with a deep sense of musical purpose and virtuosity. She has been a prizewinner at some of the world's most prestigious competitions. At age 17, she won first prize in both the Stulberg International String Competition and the Irving M. Klein International String Competition. More recently, she was awarded 1st Place and the audience prize at the Washington International String Competition, 2nd Place at the Seoul International Violin Competition in Korea, 3rd Place at the Munetsugu International Violin Competition in Japan, and was a prize winner at the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Germany. 
Cellist Min Ji Kim, born in 1995 in Incheon, Korea, began playing the cello at age six. She studied at Seoul Arts High School and later at Korea National University of Arts with acclaimed cellist Myung-Wha Chung. Since 2014, Kim has continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, Switzerland with Ivan Monighetti and Sol Gabetta. She has won prizes at various international music competitions including the Concours d’Interprétation Musicale de Lausanne in 2017. In 2018, she won the 2nd Rahn Music Prize for String Instruments and was awarded 2nd Place at the International Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki, Finland. Kim also won the Frans-Helmerson Prize from the Kronberg Academy and the Migros Culture Percentage Study Prize, as well as being a Rahn Kulturfonds scholarship holder since 2018. She has performed with orchestras including the Incheon Philharmonic and the Suwon Philharmonic of South Korea as well as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician, Kim has given concerts in Europe and Asia.
Pianist Do-Hyun Kim (“Nick”) displays incredible depth of artistry with a wide-ranging repertoire. His upcoming debuts in New York and Washington, D.C. on the Young Concert Artists Series feature a program of music he grew up listening to, culminating with Chopin's Op. 25 Etudes. Other upcoming performances include the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 and the Beethoven Fantasia for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra with the Albany (Ga.) Symphony Orchestra. Kim received the special prize for best performance by a pianist at the Semi Finals of the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. In its coverage of the competition, Gramophone described him as a “widely admired” young artist.
