Set against the backdrop of Imperial Japan's occupation of Korea, the fates of two powerful predators have become inexorably intertwined: Man-duk, a renowned but now past-his-prime big game hunter, and Dae-ho, the infamous wild tiger that stalks the Korean peninsula. A decade ago, Man-duk showed mercy to a single tiger cub after a major hunt, leading to an unexpected lifelong connection between the two. But danger and tragedy lurk in the hearts of these two wild beasts as their relationship comes to its ultimate conclusion.

Director Park Hong-jung's wild epic The Tiger (2016) shows how far Korean cinema has come in terms of both storytelling and technical prowess, wowwing viewers at home and abroad as the opening film of the 18th Udine Far East Film and winner of the Best Technical Award at the prestigious Daejong Film Awards as well as both Best Director and Best Film at the Korea Gold Awards Festival.
