K-Literature Book Club: Stories of Korea Event Date Apr 27, 2026
On April 27, our first Book Club session was held and concluded meaningfully with a shared reading and discussion of 'Please Look After Mom' by Shin Kyung-sook. In particular, held ahead of Mother’s Day, the session carried special significance as we reflected together on the meaning of “mother” and motherhood. Participants generously shared their personal reflections and experiences in a sincere and thoughtful manner, and the discussion flowed naturally with active questions and exchanges. This created a lively and engaging atmosphere that went beyond a simple reading group, becoming a truly participatory space for dialogue and shared perspectives. It was also a meaningful moment in which participants from diverse cultural backgrounds were connected through the universal emotion of maternal love, allowing for mutual understanding and resonance across Eastern and Western contexts. Many participants expressed their anticipation for the next Book Club session, and we look forward to continuing with even more enriching and meaningful programs in the future.

The opening reception for Connecting Lines: Works by Park Hyewon and Kim So Jeong was successfully held on April 21 at the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C., welcoming visitors for an evening of art and dialogue. Guests had the opportunity to hear directly from the artists and explore works that reflect on connection, repetition, and the structures that shape our lives. The exhibition remains on view through June 5, 2026—visit KCCDC to experience it in person.

The K-Culture Talk, Onggi: A Journey from Ancient Breath to Modern Form, concluded successfully with strong audience engagement. Artist Yeonsoo Kim offered a compelling look into the history and contemporary reinterpretation of onggi through an insightful talk and live demonstration. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for attendees to experience the enduring tradition and evolving artistry of Korean onggi.

KCCDC Co-Hosts Advance Screening of Netflix’s Beef Season 2 in Washington, D.C. Event Date Apr 14, 2026
The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) co-hosted a special advance screening of the Netflix original series Beef Season 2 on April 14, in collaboration with Netflix. The event took place at the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in Washington, D.C. ahead of its official release. Episodes 1 and 2 of Beef Season 2 were exclusively previewed. The screening was followed by a panel discussion featuring director Lee Sung Jin and actors Youn Yuh-jung, Jang Seo-yeon, and Matthew Kim. They shared insights into the creative vision and casting process behind the series. Jinny Howe, Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada (UCAN) at Netflix, moderated the discussion. The event also featured welcoming remarks by Elissa Alben, Vice President of Global Affairs for US and Canada at Netflix, followed by congratulatory remarks from Ambassador Kang Kyung-wha, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United States. The event served as an opportunity to build anticipation for the upcoming release of Beef Season 2, while showcasing the excellence of content created by Korean and Korean American talent to audiences in the United States. It also highlighted the expanding global recognition of collaborative content between creators and industries in both countries. The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. will continue to promote cultural exchange and cooperation between Korea and the United States through diverse cultural programming.
