The 4th Annual Korean Performance Week: Reggae Meets Korean Pansori

The 4th Annual Korean Performance Week concludes on the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage as NST & The Soul Sauce, an eight-piece roots reggae band, joins forces with multi-award winning Korean pansori vocalist Kim Yulhee to create one of the most unique cross-genre mashups that has never been heard! The unexpected yet raw and powerful spiritual sounds of reggae and pansori explode, dance, and melt in listener’s ears and hearts.

Noh Seonteck, former bassist for Korea’s first-generation reggae band Windy City which has performed at Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, CMW, and SXSW, created the all-star Korean reggae band NST & The Soul Sauce in 2015. With two feet firmly planted in roots reggae, their unique sound mixes elements of jazz, African beat, funk, soul, psychedelic, and nyabinghi music blended with classic Korean pop. Along with the influence of Korean traditional sounds and philosophy, NST & The Soul Sauce have pioneered a new style of music that has been dubbed “Korean reggae." The band and the Korean vocalist released their first full album Version In March of 2019.

This event is free with no registration required. For more information on other events that are part of the The 4th Annual Korean Performance Week, visit the Performing Arts section of the Korean Cultural Center website here.
