The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) is seeking to give brilliant, original artists and performance groups the opportunity to perform for the American public through an open call for the OnStage Korea 2022-2023 Season. Presented at venues across the Washington, D.C. region, OnStage Korea fosters cultural exchange and understanding while enhancing the visibility of Korean performing arts and artists in America.
o Performance Season & Venues
●Performance Season: June 2022 – December 2023
●A total of at least 4 performances are planned for this season
※ Venues: Established performing arts centers in the Washington, D.C. region
※ Venue will be determined based on the type and size of the performance
o Qualifications
●An individual artist, group, or non-profit arts organization that can present a live performance related to Korean cultural theme or Korean culture/arts
●Applicants should also note the following terms and exceptions:
- Performance runtime should be between 45 and 90 minutes
- Artists applying for a single performance project or as a temporary/project-based group are eligible to apply (as well as established, regular artists and groups)
- Performances that aim to raise funds through ticket sales are not eligible to apply
- Artists who were previously selected for participation in OnStage Korea between 2017 and 2020 are NOT eligible to re-apply for the 2022-2023 season
o Performing Arts Categories/Genres
●Dance: Modern, Korean Traditional, Creative, Ballet, Jazz, Hiphop, etc. (all types)
●Music: Classical, Korean Traditional, Jazz, World Music, etc. (all types)※ Artists and organizations whose performances incorporate multimedia or other collaborations may also apply.
o Support Provided
●Performance venue (for a one-time event)
●Stage technical production (sound, lighting, stage crew, etc.)
●Nominal artist fees (dependent on selection placement)
●Basic rehearsal studio space at the KCCDC (subject to space constraints)
●Local transportation (between the airport, hotel, venue, and KCCDC, as needed)
●Promotional (posters, postcards, brochure, photos, video, online, social media, etc.)
●Artist visa and COVID19 test fees (for travel between Korea and the U.S.)
※ The KCCDC does not provide for or cover the following potential expenses: airfare, accommodations, daily living expenses, meals, per diem allowance, additional rehearsal space rental fees, application fees and/or materials, or other related expenses not listed above under Support Provided.
o Application Schedule
●Application Deadline: Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 11:59 PM (EST)
●Review Period: April ~ May 2022
●Final Selections and Notification of Results: Mid-June 2022
●Selected artists and groups will be contacted directly
o Application Evaluation
●Applications will be evaluated by a panel of performing arts professionals and experts based on criteria set by the KCCDC. Evaluations will be based on the contents of the application and any supporting materials submitted.
o Application Documents
●Two completed online application forms (one in English and one in Korean)
●Online links to optional supporting documents or media (e.g. performer resumes, photos, links to sample or past performance recordings, etc.) Inclusion of a link to at least one sample performance video is strongly recommended.
●Any physical documents or materials submitted as part of an application will not be returned.
●Applicants may be disqualified at any point if any information in their application is found to be false, misleading, or incorrect, or if the terms included in this guide are not adhered to.

Applications should be submitted via the two online forms (one in English and one in Korean) by Sunday, February 20, 2022.
●For large format supporting documentation and media (such as video/audio recordings), please include in your application links to where the content can be viewed or downloaded online.
