Immixture
Korea National Contemporary Dance Company

Immixture creates visible music by combining sound and movement from both Eastern and Western traditions. Traditional heritage and modern society also intermingle here, such as when delicate and flowing Korean traditional dance meets modern contemporary, extroverted physical expression. Dancers' movements and the music become gradually entwined and the audience eventually experiences a dynamic immixture of senses: visible music and audible dance.

The Korea National Contemporary Dance Company (KNCDC), established in 2010, is Korea's only nationally-funded contemporary dance company, led by Artistic Director Jeongho Nam. In collaboration with leading Korean and international artists, KNCDC aspires to produce and present works that reach out to audiences of all generations and sectors of society with a variety of themes that touch on history, society, and daily life in today's complicated world. KNCDC also aims to make contemporary dance fun, rather than abstruse, with performances that the audience can intuitively understand, sympathize with, and enjoy. The company also hopes to reach out to a broader audience by offering performances that can enjoyed by all, expanding the contemporary dance community in the process.

Pansori Sonata
The National Gugak Center

Pansori Sonata presents a classical reinterpretation of Korean music, pansori, and folksongs. Celebrtated pianist and composer Jonghun Park brings a fresh perspective to Korean traditional music, especially the iconic musical storytelling performance art of Pansori. This delightful fusion of Korean traditional sounds and familiar works by Western classical composers invites audiences to explore a new world of music.

The National Gugak Center is the headquarters for Korean traditional music and performing arts, which dates back more than 1,400 years to the royal music institute of the ancient Silla dynasty in the first millennium. The Center cultivates and preserves for future generations a broad variety of performing arts traditions ranging from royal court music and dance to contemporary innovations on traditional music.
