Lunar New Year event with OCC and FHFA
The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. co-hosted a Lunar New Year event yesterday for the nationwide workforces of the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) at their headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The event was coordinated by OCC’s Network of Asian Pacific Americans (NAPA), which has over 260 members at the OCC, an independent bureau of the U.S Department of Treasury. Each year NAPA hosts a celebratory event to showcase how its diverse members celebrate their traditional Asian New Year and this year focuses on Seollal, the Lunar New Year in Korea.
The program included an introduction to the Seollal holiday, a live performance of Samulnori percussion music and giwonmu (traditional Korean ritual for rain dance), cultural displays, and a reception with traditional Korean cuisine.
