The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) presents CelloGayageum in concert on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Polinger Performance Hall at Levine Music. The performance will feature original compositions inspired by Korean folk melodies and traditional gugak, incorporating influences from classical music, jazz, and other musical genres. Through the distinctive sounds of the gayageum and cello, CelloGayageum creates an innovative musical dialogue that bridges Korean musical traditions with diverse global influences.
Formed in Berlin in 2016, CelloGayageum is a duo featuring Austrian cellist Sol Daniel Kim and Korean gayageum player Dayoung Yoon. Drawing inspiration from the unique characteristics of Korean traditional music and the distinct musical qualities of the cello, the duo has gained international recognition for its innovative cross-cultural sound. Their achievements include winning first place at the 2018 Soorim New Wave, appearing on JTBC’s Superband 2 in 2021, and performing at prestigious international venues and major cultural events. In March 2025, the duo signed with IMG Artists in New York, marking a significant milestone in its expanding international career. Through their music, CelloGayageum continues to explore the beauty of cultural differences and create meaningful connections with audiences worldwide.
