OffStage: Ballet in Nature

Featuring American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer

Hee Seo

Video Premiere:
Wednesday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m.

Join us for OffStage: Ballet in Nature, a new series of outdoor dance performances launching November 11 at 6:00 p.m. with a cinematic production featuring American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer Hee Seo in an original dance performed in and inspired by the boundless beauty of nature.

Unrestrained by a traditional stage, Seo created this original dance inspired by the vastness of the sea, which serves as a dramatic backdrop for her performance set in Long Beach, N.Y. She draws on her vast creative experience as a world-class principal ballerina to capture an elegant sense of communion with nature, blending graceful movement and serene imagery designed to provide healing calm to casual observers and ballet aficionados alike. The performance is also set to Debussy's iconic Arabesque No. 1 in E major. For more about Hee Seo and this event, see below or visit the KCCDC website.

OffStage: Ballet in Nature introduces leading and principal Korean dancers from renowned ballet companies across the United States as they perform original works outdoors in novel, natural settings. Each video, presented in a short film format, will be available for Washingtonians and the broader public to view online for free. At a time when face-to-face interactions and formal performances remain limited, the KCCDC encourages audiences to take time to relax and heal through the enjoyment of creative, nontraditional performances.

The first episode of OffStage: Ballet in Nature featuring Hee Seo releases on November 11 at 6:00 p.m. via KCCDC social media on YouTube and Facebook (@KoreaCultureDC).
