K-Cinema at Home: By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture (April 19 - 25)

synopsis

Entrepreneur Lee Chan-woo (Park Hae-soo) is a firm believer that thought creates reality, propelling himself into Seoul’s lucrative and hedonistic night club scene with the help of a bigshot moneylender and shrewd club manager Sung Eun-young (Seo Yea-ji). But things quickly go awry when Chan-woo becomes embroiled in a celebrity drug scandal with ties to politics and is forced to set up an ill-conceived sting operation with local cop Park Ki-hun (Kim Sang-ho). For Chan-woo, when pseudo-science fails and all hell breaks loose, sheer charisma never hurts.

Director Lee Seong-tae’s slick crime thriller By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture (2019) weaves together a fast-paced story with social commentary on the perils of power and celebrity in modern society. It earned Park Hae-soo several nominations for Best New Actor including a win at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, as well as the Popular Star Award for Seo Yea-ji at the Buil Film Awards.
