K-Cinema: Intimate Strangers (Feb. 13 & 27)
synopsis
Lifelong friends and married couple Seok-ho (Cho Jin-woong) and Ye-jin (Kim Ji-soo) invite a group of their longtime friends over for a housewarming dinner. They end up playing a game where they must share all the messages and calls to their cell phones. Although the mood starts off light, things quickly get more and more uncomfortable as hidden truths start to surface. People they thought were their closest friends start to feel more like strangers, as an evening of suspicion and strife leads to shocking revelations.
Director Lee Jae-kyoo's 2018 film Intimate Strangers shines with a rich ensemble cast and a lot of dramatic mileage despite a small set and simple premise that remakes the 2016 Italian film Perfect Strangers.
